VERY PLEASED! Good for WIDE Doorways, Cats, and WIDE HIPS!
I purchased this gate to keep my cats out of my dining room turned into study. I didn't want to install a door as someday I may turn it back into a formal dining room. So I looked into the idea of a child's gate. Well I ran into two problems. My doorway is 48 in wide and most gates only go up to 42 in wide. I could only find wider one's online. Which made me hesitant in case I had to return it. I also figured with cats I needed a taller gate so that they would not be tempted to jump over it. So I narrowed it down to two gates. I got turned off by the other tall/wide gate as a reviewer said if you're even slightly on the heavy side you won't fit through the door. I'm a full figured girl so I wasn't going to spend that much money and not be able to get through the door. So I took a chance on the only other one available that fit my criteria tall/wide. We have a kitchen with two door sized openings, one on either end. Two years ago when we moved in and our oldest child was not quite two we got two different gates. This one, and the . Of the two I prefer the Easy Step. They were both the same to install, and I like how this one opens both directions and how it snaps back closed is neat. But I would prefer that it stay open. If you get this gate and want it to stay open use a short bungee cord and hook one to the open side of the gate and one to the screw bar part. This will keep it open in case you need to walk through, like we do when we bring in groceries.The thing I like the least about this style is that it is hard to close, you need to put your hand on it and push down with your whole body to get it to lock in place. Operation of this gate is a dream
This extra tall baby security gate is ideal for many areas where one would want a safety gate. It's quite strong as it's shipping weight of 20 pounds would imply (that 5 pounds more than the shipping weight of the regular Dreambaby security gate). This is super-easy to install on "some" areas because it's pressure mounting style is intuitive and doesn't require many parts. I am currently using one and three of the regular Dreambaby gates (and two other different types as well).2 Words of Caution:1) This is probably not the best gate to install at top of stairs simply because you'd have to use screws and there aren't enough screw holes (just one for top and one for bottom on each side, and you'd really need twice that).2) The pressure mount is not designed for most situations where there is molding. For example, if you've got molding along the wall such that the little round parts that touches the wall cannot be flush, or if you've got molding on...

Keeps the cat out!
I was a little unsure about whether or not this gate would be worth the slightly higher price, but I'm really glad that I got it. My daughter's bedroom door sticks in the summer and I have to slam my body against it to open it and when I'm laying her down for a nap, that's just not practical. I wanted to be able to leave her door open but I didn't want our cat to be able to get into her room so I needed a gate tall enough to keep her out. Our cat gets into a lot of things and loves to be where she's not supposed to be. This gate is perfect. Right after putting it up (which only took about 5-10 minutes) she went over to the gate and tried to figure out how she could get by and gave up after a few tries. She can't fit between the bars and she definitely isn't even trying to jump over it. We bought the gate to keep our dog within a restricted spaceafter his surgery and are very happy with the gate's appearanceand function. The gate is made of metal but it's not too heavy.It came with screws for a more permanent installationbut we just set it in a doorway using the clamps providedand it's very stable. Excellent gate - we now have two of these
We have purchased many gates since our two kids arrived, and this one is the first one I like. Actually, we love this gate. The other plastic, pressure mounted ones are ugly and impossible to use. We gave those away. Then we bought wooden ones that were so flimsy they fell apart. Then we bought the XT Superyard, which is great as portable enclosure, but simply is not a gate for room entry or stairs. I was able to mount this gate in just a few minutes. The assembly was very intuitive, and they DO provide simple instructions. The gate is sturdy, surprisingly stylish, and works, very, very well. Only because we have wasted so much time and money do we truly appreciate this particular model. FINALLY a gate that works as promised!.I will note that the auto-close feature can be defeated if the turn knobs are not adjusted properly. Good Deal....
We really like this gate. We have two big dogs, and we put the gate up in between the living-room and the kitchen, to keep them out of the living-room. It is really nice they cannot break the gate down. We have one dog that is a Irsh Wolfhound, and weights 120 lbs, and a Black Lab weigh 80 lbs. The gate is tall enough too. Our son also brought one for his house when he saw mine. He has also a Black Lab.

The perfect gate at the perfect price!
When we were looking for a bottom of the stairs gate we had quite a long list of what exactly we needed. This gate had it all!! The bottom of the wall by our stairs has a large molding so we needed a pressure mount gate that did not need the top width and the bottom width to be the same. We needed something strong enough to keep our soon to be 1 year old from going up the stairs but easy enough for our 3 and 5 year old to open by themselves. We also needed something that closed and locked by itself so we wouldn't have to worry if the older 2 kids remembered to lock the gate behind them. And last, but not least, we needed something affordable.Our banister is wrought iron and fairly thin so we also ended up getting a plank of wood and some zip ties to make the gate more sturdy. We bought this gate for our 1 year old boy and installed it as a kitchen door. we needed a gate to fit in between the kitchen and livingroom which a little larger space than normal. i spent alot of time reserching gates about 2 months and i decided on this one, and i am so glad i did. it is perfect. it only took me about 20 mintues to set it up and get it right. we have it about 1/2 an inch of the floor so just in case it did slip or something it would not scratch the hardwood floor. it shuts great, opens great and locks great. my 14 month old son loves it to because he can see through it so he knows what is going on in the other room, the gate does shut by itself but i think that is good if you want to keep it open just put a shoe in front of the door and there you go its open. i love it love it love it, way worth every little penny. i would recommend this product to anyone and everyone. it is also not bulky looking and it looks nice when it is up not like most gates. it is pressure mounted so no screws in your wall. and if you have to you can still step over...

GREAT product, definitely worth the money 1.5 years later!
This is a great product and a great place to buy it. We currently have this gate in a 48" doorway, and our 20-month-old rather rambunctious daughter has yet to break out or tear it down. (Yes, of course, she has tried!) It was relatively easy to set up (probably easier than most of the baby toys I've put together). It is easy to get in and out of, mainly because the door swings both ways. I do not particularly love that the door is hinged with a spring, however; there have been some close calls with fingers almost getting pinched. The spring also makes it difficult to keep the door open without installing an eye hook in a nearby wall to attach it to with string (or, like us, those baby rings they sell for hanging baby items so that kids can't choke themselves with it). Still, I'm amazed at the gate's ability to withstand lots of abuse but still maintain top quality function. We chose not to screw it into the wall and only use the sticky pads that lock it in place when you're setting...

High quality, couldn't get it to fully adjust properly
This item appeared to be made very well. It fit the space perfect and the door automatically closed and latched. The one issue is that the top latch never properly aligned and locked. Pressure mounted gates require you to tighten the gate in order for the door to line up and appear off before pressure is applied (this wasn't the first pressure gate I've installed). This one did partially lock but the top latch never aligned to fully lock, so I wasn't comfortable leaving the gate in place. The item has since been returned to Amazon and I'm not sure whether to try another or not. I do prefer the The First Years Hands Free Gate instead but will have to purchase extensions in order to use this. I also like the fact that the First Years gate doesn't automatically close the door in case I want to leave the area opened (I'll probably change my tune on this when my daughter is older).
