Canon Ink for Canon i9900 photo printer
The Canon i9900 employs eight (8) cartridges. For several years I purchased the Canon 8-pack of refills. The eight separate colors seem to run out in even succession--except for the red and green--I have several new cartridges in my drawer. The six-pack does not include the red and green. Perfect! By the way, the Canon i9900 has been flawless for the several years I've owned it. And the photo color and clarity continues to amaze everyone. This may have something to do with the fact that I have never used any ink but the genuine Canon ink. You're money ahead to buy this 6-pack rather than get hit for $12 to $14 each down at your super-office-supplies store. Top to learn more

I suggest to everyone who owns a printer, to buy genuine brand ink. STAY AWAY from generic inks. I learned the hard way that they are just crap. Since I own a Canon Photo printer, I will ALWAYS buy Canon ink from now on. And Amazon is cheaper than every place else. Top to learn more

Highly Recommended Photo Printer
The Canon S800 exceeded my expectations for a true photo printer. Previously, I was using an HP model that I thought gave good results. However, there was no comparison to the quality of the output of the Canon. Seeing the same prints side by side from the two printers convinced me that I made a wise purchase. The Canon 4 x 6 and 8 x 10 prints really look as if they came from film that was professionally developed and processed.I have used several different brands of paper with the S800 and I am impressed with all of them (Canon, Kodak, Jet Print). The non-Canon papers do require some driver tweaking but that proved to be not a big deal.The S800 prints relatively quickly and is one of the quietest photo printers available (good if your spouse is trying to sleep). After pressing the power button, the S800 is ready to print in only 15 seconds. (There is no long, drawn out start up routine.) I also like that the Canon has individual ink tanks. Awesome Photo Printer
After doing extensive on-line research and reading virtually every "professional" and user review available, I decided to purchase an S800. I was also considering an HP DeskJet 960 and Epson 890, but the overwhelming praise for the S800 won me as a Canon convert. We also own a DeskJet 722C (which still does an admirable job on HP photo paper) but we wanted a true photo-quality printer. The prints from the S800 are truly AMAZING. As we are primarily using it for photo printing, we are printing almost exclusively on Canon's Photo Paper Pro .... One magazine review said that the S800 came closer to dye sublimation output quality than any other ink jet printer they had tested, and I totally agree. I won't go into the print speeds - its photo output is almost certainly several times faster than any other inkjet you've ever used. Sleek look, whisper quiet and stellar performance
This is quite possibly the best printer Canon has manufactured to date. You cannot get better than this. I replaced my Canon BJC 5000 printer with this and I was pleasantly surprised!Six individual cartridges make for convenient replacement. No more replacing an entire tri-color cartridge when one color in it runs out; only one color in one cartridge! The amount of ink in each tank is generous; it's easy to see the ink levels at a glance, and you can access the print monitor installed on your system to see the levels on your screen without having to open the front panel. The total cost of replacing all six cartridges is less than replacing the basic three (black, tri-color and enhanced black) for the 5000 model! The Photo Cyan and Photo Magenta make the difference with the quality output this printer produces in addition to the standard CYMK cartridges.Printing is whisper quiet. Not Cheap, but Works Great
The price per print of ink jet printers is simply expensive, especially when you consider the fact that the process is probably not even close to being archival quality. Yet for most they will suffice. It is commonly believed that if you want archival you should either use silver emmulsion (what you will get if you have your prints traditionally developed by a photo lab - even a one hour lab) or dye sublimation. All that being said, this ink and the printers they go into do a very good job. I've been very impressed. I don't think there is a huge difference over the last generation, but if you want the newer printers you have to make the switch to the newer ink. Good news is that it works with the current crop of paper.What is great about this ink cartdridge is that in the canon printers it is the cartridge mostly used for black print, while the other black cartridge is used for photo prints. This keeps your cost of printing regular text a little cheaper.Buying... Top to learn more
Nothing like the original
I've tried generic and refilled brands and I'll never do that again. I print a lot of photos and CD/DVDs and there is a huge difference in quality from the real thing and the generic. The per page price isn't that bad and I use a lot of ink. The originals go far and is worth the extra cost. Top to learn more

Just an FYI; the ink set shown here (CLI-8BK, CLI-8M, CLI-8C, and CLI-8Y) also match what's needed in the Canon PIXMA MP530, save for the (sold separately). (As of this writing, the MP530 is not listed in the compatible printer list, though the MP500 is. Good price
To correct an earlier reviewer, the bundling of these inks IS APPROPRIATE. I have a Canon Pixma MP830 and it uses the 4 CLI-8 cartridges along with the 5PGBK. You do not have to buy the bundle if your particular printer does not use the 5PGBK. Anyway, I checked all the major suppliers for genuine Canon cartridges (versus compatibles) and Amazon's price beats them all, especially with free shipping and no sales tax. Top to learn more

Better price but not without complications.
[Bordering on the ridiculous: 6/08 and Amazon is selling this 4-color pack for two dollars less than the 3-color (which omits Black 8). I've already accumulated 5 spare Black 8s from previous 4-pack purchases.]I've discovered that the inconvenience may outweigh the few dollars saved by purchasing the combination pack. My Cyan and Magenta cartridges lasted only 4 weeks and 6 weeks respectively while the others are still going. Purchasing more combination packs would have resulted in a backlog of unused ink. You might order the package now and then (I wish it included Black 5 ink), but given the staggered depletion of ink cartridges, it frequently makes more sense to order the single cartridge. Moreover, the combination of Amazon's one-click ordering and no-postage Prime membershp makes it no less practical for the consumer to order individual cartridges as they expire (though I'm sure Amazon prefers to send out large quantities in the same order).
